A delegation of 19 persons representing the institutions directly involved in the implementation of the PAMPAT project in Morocco and Tunisia and two argan export consortia in Morocco participated in a study tour to Tuscany from 13 to 18 November. Participants had the opportunity to meet various Italian consortia and organizations involved in the promotion of products protected by Geographical Indications (GI) and to familiarize themselves with the marketing and promotion channels for the national and international markets.
Through the visit to the “Toscano IGP Oil Consortium” and its members, and thanks to the meetings with the Consortium of “Marrone del Mugello”, “Saffron of San Giminiano” and “Pecorino delle Balze Volterrane”, participants have appreciated different types and models of collective organization (cooperative, consortium, producer associations) actively involved in origin linked products’ value chains. They also analyzed the basic reasons and effects of the Geographical Indication system and the different ways of using the collective label at the producers level, as well as exploring ways of strengthening potential synergies between GI products and tourism: farms, typical products trails, agri-tourism, etc.
