A delegation of representatives of the institutions directly involved in the implementation of the Azir-O project (targeting the value chain of Oriental rosemary) and the cooperatives involved in the collection and trade of rosemary in the Oriental region of Morocco made a study trip to Agadir, to exchange with actors and support institutions in the argan value chain and learn the sector’s best practices.
The purpose of this exchange is to present to the representatives of cooperatives and counterparts of the Azir-O project the role of the rights holders in the preservation and the regeneration of the resource, the ongoing support programs in the argan sector, the evolution of argan cooperatives in the value chain and current challenges they are facing, the importance of market standards compliance and the support provided by the PAMPAT project in this field and in the PGI promotion, as well as the setup of export consortia of argan oil producers (cooperative and companies) to improve the commercial positioning of their products.
